I started Ober Woodworking in September of 2005. Previous to that, I worked for Birdseye Building Company, a high-end custom home builder in Richmond, Vermont. In the eight years I was at Birdseye, I ran the woodshop. The shop included seven skilled woodworkers and we supplied the built-ins, mantles, stair parts, entry doors, and all the other uniquely tailored wooden features that go into a custom designed house. I left Birdseye to get back to my own shop so that I could work closer to home in Lincoln, Vermont and be around when my kids return from school.
I am a talented woodworker and cabinet-maker with a fully equipped shop. I know how to achieve high standards efficiently, yet I consider my strongest attribute to be my ability to solve problems and tackle challenging projects.
I enjoy doing things a lot of shops either cannot or will not do. I like working with curves; I like working with new and exotic materials; I like experimenting with different finishes; and I like working with and for creative people and their new and different ideas. I also bring some specialized talents to the table. I know how to make curved handrails; I am an accomplished woodcarver; I can draw and have an artistic eye; I am computer savvy and proficient at both 2-d and 3-d CAD; I have managed large projects; I work well with Architects and Designers; and I seem to be able to get along with people. Creating beautiful space is process; a process in which I am happy to play a role.
Thank you, Dan Ober
